Alternate Investment Funds

Alternative Investment Fund or AIF established or incorporated in India is a privately pooled investment vehicle which collects funds from Ultra-HNI investors, whether Indian or foreign, for investing it in accordance with a defined investment policy for the benefit of its investors.

AIF are further categorised into

  • Category I AIF: Venture capital funds (Including Angel Funds), SME Funds, Social Venture Funds, Infrastructure funds
  • Category II AIF: Various types of funds such as real estate funds, private equity funds (PE funds), funds for distressed assets, etc.
  • Category III AIF: Various types of funds such as hedge funds, PIPE Funds, etc.

AIF provides solutions that cater to a niche segment of clients, who are both individuals as well as Institutional entities.

The minimum ticket size for PMS is Rs 1 Crore.

The investments typically happen through a draw down route over a period of time (generally three years).
